Tigers take district tournament

EPHRATA - Andrew Whalen shot 71 and Aaron Whalen carded 75 to help lead Ephrata to the District 5/6 Championship at the Lakeview Golf and Country Club Thursday.

Teammates Byran Heer had a 79, Tyler Janasz turned in an 83, Josh Johnson shot 84 and Brandt Monson finished with 95.

All six golfers made the cut and will participate in the District 5/6/7 Regional tournament at Apple Tree in Yakima Tuesday.

Andrew Whalen was the low round medalist.

The Tigers as a team finished with a score of 308. East Valley was second with 355, Selah took third with 361, Othello placed fourth with 370 and Quincy finished seventh with 423.

Colton Hall (81) shot the low round for Othello. Trevor Salsbury carded 83, and Tyler Amoruso had a 96. All three advance to play at Apple Tree. Quincy's Josh Schwint was the only Jack to qualify for the regional tournament.
