PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Reader upset with MLIRD decision

Since coming off the board of MLIRD, I have not attended any of the meetings or even really had the urge to. I can always depend on our local paper to give me results of each meeting and there seems to be plenty of them. Then there are the two or three calls I get saying, "Did you hear what went on last night?" Such as the one I received while we were out of town last week, this one got my attention as I am sure it did everyone else or at least I hope it did. No time to honor our flag. Wow! That's a big one. Now we are very fortunate we live in a country that allows us to say such things. But, is this the sort of example we want to present to our community, our children, our world? I sure hope not.

I hope the board in it's infinite wisdom will reconsider their stance and honor our veterans, our citizens and themselves by continuing to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.
