LACEY - The Columbia Basin United U-12 select soccer team based in Othello was crowned champions of the Washington State Cup in Lacey Saturday. The team is made up of local area kids, and is coached by Bernie Garza, the head coach at Othello High School.
CB United beat Pumas UNAM U-12 of Seattle 3-1 in the quarterfinals on Saturday morning. The team defeated FPSC Fury of Seattle 1-0 in the semifinal round to advance to the match against MRSC99. CB United defeated the team from Seattle 2-0 to capture the U-12 Silver Division title. The team finished second in the Gold Division last year.
