OTHELLO - The Othello Huskies had little trouble dispatching their CWAC opponents as they raced past Wapato in doubleheader action Saturday at home.

Othello took game one 20-1, then shutout the Wolves 22-0 in game two.

Alyssa Martinez was 3-for-3 at the plate with two home runs and four RBI to lead the Huskies arsenal.

Sofia Rodriguez had four hits in four at bats with a double, Kim Bullis was 3-for-4 with a double and a home run and Evelyn Miron had three hits in four plate appearances with a double.

The game was shortened by the five inning 10-run rule.

The Huskies pounded out 19 hit in the contest. Morgan Logan was on the bump and picked up the win for Othello.

The second game of the twin bill saw the Huskies Bullis throw a near perfect game as she went the distance on the mound striking out nine batters. She gave up one hit in the top of the fifth for the only blemish.

Othello out hit Wapato 19 to one. Bullis also led the offensive attack for Othello going 3-for-4 at the plate with a double and a triple.

Daisy Salgado had three hits in four at bats with a double and a triple, and Miron had two hits in two plate appearances with a double.

"The girls focused on their hitting and  fielding in both games and were successful in doing so," coach Rudy Ochoa said. "Both pitchers did an outstanding job on the mound. Logan only giving up two hits both in the 4th inning, and Bullis was one hit shy of a perfect game."

Up next for the Huskies are the Bulldogs in Ellensburg for doubleheader action Thursday.

"If we can win those two games, we'll probably end up third in league.  If we lose, we could drop as low as 5th," Ochoa said.  We still have the East Valley game to finish if needed."

The two wins over the Wolves improves Othello to 11-4 in the CWAC and 12-5 overall. The district tournament gets underway May 12 in Selah.
