Mary Genevieve Luce

Mary Genevieve Luce, 87, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in Moses Lake, Washington. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 12, 2012 at Kayser's Chapel with Dr. Paul Wagner, officiating. Mary was born August 8, 1924 to Clarence and Arsa Belle Petitt in Omak, Washington. She married Harry Luce on January 17, 1943 in San Diego, California where he was stationed in the Navy. They raised their family in the Seattle area and later moved to Auburn until moving to Moses Lake 4 ? years ago.

During her teens, Mary belonged to the Order of the Rainbow for Girls, Assembly No. 76 in Omak. Mary was Past Guardian for Job's Daughter's Bethel No. 33. She was a member of the Delta Chapter No. 109 Order of Eastern Star for 51 years.

In her retirement years she would snowbird to Florence, Arizona. She was one of the Caliente Clowns for their mobile home park that participated in local parades and various charitable functions. She enjoyed golfing, tole painting, needlepoint, counted cross stitching, playing bridge and various other card games, clogging and dancing. She was an excellent seamstress. Mary enjoyed crocheting and making her own patterns and designs. She enjoyed donating her lap afghans to various charities and nursing homes.

Mary's most cherished moments were being with her family.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 61 ? years, Harry Luce; eldest son, David Luce; her parents and five of her siblings. She is survived by her children Connie (Wayne) Buren of Moses Lake, WA, Robert (Debbie) Luce of Mountlake Terrace, WA and Vickie Luce of Gig Harbor, WA; Grandchildren Brad (Dena) Luce of Montgomery, AL, Clint Luce of West Valley City, UT, Daniel Luce of Kirkland, WA and April Luce of Anchorage AK; sister Yvonne Beasley of Pullman, WA; various nieces and nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.

Family wishes to thank Assured Hospice of Moses Lake for their excellent care of their mother during her recent illness.

Burial will be in Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA with her husband, Harry.
