Fresh News From MarDon: Spring Events
MARDON RESORT - Spring has arrived, on the calendar at least. The weather has been another story.
The surface water temp on Potholes Reservoir as of Wednesday March 21, 2012 was 40 degrees.
We are looking forward to The Sandhill Crane Festival starting on Friday and running through the whole weekend. Our Othello Community and volunteers work very hard to put this successful event on. If you would like to learn more about the festival please visit the website. www.sandhillcranefestival.org.
The bird watching has been wonderful so far this spring. Here are some easy access places for some fun birding. Goose Island on Potholes Reservoir experienced clouds of Caspian Turns and many species of Gull migrating back to the area. Birders corner on the intersection of Dodson and Frenchman Hill's Road is excellent bird watching. North of Winchester Wasteway on Dodson Road is a circular walking trail with birding blinds to enjoy birds of the marsh. This was a co-op project with Moses Lake Auto-bon and WDFW.
The Job Corp Dyke Road gives birders access to the North Potholes Reserve.
On Potholes Reservoir the Lind Coulee arm of Potholes Reservoir was holding lots of migratory waterfowl.
