Chiefs girls finish fourth at Chiawana

PASCO - They finished in the middle of the pack in their first POD match of the season at Sun Willows Golf Course Monday. But the Moses Lake girls did record their best team score in over a decade.
"We had a good day on the golf course," coach Lonnie Brown said. "Our team score of 410 was the lowest since I have been coaching here the last 13 or 14 years."
The Chiefs were led by senior Vanessa Goodwyn, who carded a 98. Senior Kristi Brown finished four strokes back of her teammate with a 102. Sophomores Terrin Utter and Emily Dennis shot 103, and 107 respectively, junior Vinci Rios turned in a 109, and junior Katrina Ulnick finished with a 144 to round out the scoring for Moses Lake.
"I was very happy with all the girls scores," Brown said. "But they all know they still have room to improve."
The girls are back on the links Thursday when they go back to Sun Willows for the Pasco Invite.
Huskies win
OTHELLO - Any time you host an event, the goal is to finish first and claim the bragging rights. And that's just what the Huskies did, winning at home by two strokes over LaSalle to take first place at the Othello Invite Friday.
The Huskies finished a top the nine team field with a score of 203. The Lightning carded a 205, and Naches was just one stroke back of LaSalle with a 206.
Colton Hall led the way for Othello with a 76 on the par 72 course. Teammate Trevor Salsbury shot 78, and Tyler Amoruso finished with 100. Rolando Garza had a 54 on the front nine and C.J. Hawley carded a 54.
Hall and LaSalle's Beau Wangler tied for top medallists with a 76. Salsbury was third with his 78.
