Girls track performs well at Jamboree
Moses Lake MLHS Chiefs Track
RICHLAND - Records are made to be broken. And that what happened Saturday when the Chiefs Kayla Grigg, Alysha Overland, London Cleverly and Diamond Ransom set a new Moses Lake High School mark in the 4 x 100 relay with a time of 50.75, eclipsing the old record (50.9) by 15 one-hundreths of a second.
"I was really proud of the way the team ran," coach Nicki Weiland said. "It was exciting to watch."
Grigg and Ransom came close to breaking a 34 year-old school record (12.8) in the 100 meter dash as well, finishing with times of 12.81 and 12.91 respectively.
The Chiefs Sadie Nielsen took first in the discus.
"It's kind of hard to know how we measure up to the competition this year as each girl was only allowed to participate in two events at the jamboree," Weiland said. "Our league is really tough, but we're excited to see how things shape up with all of the young kids and coaches we have on board."
Moses Lake is back on the track Saturday when the team travels to Tiger country to participate in the Ephrata Invite at 11 a.m.
