Donald was born to William and Gertrude Totten in Yakima, Washington where he was raised with his five brothers: Perd, Floyd, William(Bill), Earl and Roger Totten and his two sisters: Zelma and Blanche

Don graduated from Davis High School where he earned many awards for his participation in basketball. Upon his graduation Don joined the Navy and proposed to his high school sweetheart, Stella May McCafferty. They were married on September 6, 1952. Don and Stella enjoyed 44 years of marriage. The Totten's moved to Ellensburg, where they would raise their four children Peggy, Laurie, Donna and William, moving to Kennewick in 1979 when Don was transferred with his employer.

Don was an Engineer with Washington State Department of Transportation until he retired in 1988. Upon his retirement Don and Stella became full time RV travelers traveling all 50 states. Stella passed away in 1996, after which Don continued traveling enjoying pool tournaments, dancing, family and friends.

Though out his life Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, softball, basketball and archery golf on the weekends with his family. But mostly Don was known for his passion of billiards and his love of dancing.

Survived by his son William Totten and wife Denise of Moses Lake, Daughters Donna Totten of Richland, Laurie Tufford and husband Rick of Kennewick, and Peggy Leitch and husband Mike of Gold Bar all of WA, one brother Roger Totten of Olympia, Washington and four generations of grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews

A memorial service will be held in Don's honor on March 18, 2012, 2:00 pm at the Kennewick Eagles, 115
