ROYAL CITY - Members of the Royal City United Methodist Church remind the public that their annual chili feed will be held this Saturday, March 10, at the Royal City Community Center.

The RCCC is located at the Royal Golf Course on Dodson Road, next to Highway 26. Chili, and the trimmings, will be served from 5 p.m. to about 7 p.m.

Church member Lee Irwin reports that 150 guests were served last year. The cooks, led by Alice Parker, will prepare for 200 this year.

"Community fellowship, fun, food and entertainment are our desires," Irwin said.

The chili fee was started last year as a fund-raiser for church building needs. The guests were so pleased that they urged church members to make it an annual event.

This year's chili feed will include entertainment by country gospel singer Johnny Fisk. There will be no admission charge, but a free will offering is asked.

The dinner will include chili, salad, corn bread, ice cream and drinks. There will hot dogs for children who prefer them over chili.

Last year's proceeds allowed the church to renovate its basement conference room, where the first chili feed was held. It is now used as a pre-school by the Royal School District.

"That's why we're having the dinner at the community center," Irwin said. "The school has a lot of stuff in there."
