Moses Lake to work on streets, water mains
MOSES LAKE - Moses Lake is moving ahead on projects to seal up pavement cracks and replace aging city water mains.
The two projects together total about $950,900.
The first includes sealing cracks on approximately 430,000 feet of streets, bike paths and parking lots throughout the city, according to Municipal Services Director Gary Harer. He said the city has been making the repairs for more than 20 years.
Three bids were received ranging from $143,028 to $199,963, and the city awarded the project to low bidder BCV, Inc. Their bid was under the engineer's estimate of $159,857.
The city received 13 bidders to replace 1,300 feet of 8-inch steel water main along Alder Street and Third Avenue, install 9,200 feet of 12-inch water main along Randolph Drive and install 2,600 feet of 12-inch water main along Beacon Road, Harer said.
Bids ranged from $807,888 to $1,185,766, and the city went with low bidder Hurst Construction LLC, of Wenatchee.
The engineer's estimate for the project was $873,157, Harer added.
The ASPI Group and the Port of Moses Lake are voluntarily contributing a portion of their reimbursement obligation to help the city move forward with the water mains project this year. ASPI will contribute $100,000 and the Port will contribute 25 percent of the total cost of the project, Harer said.
