Youth hunting organization holding fundraiser

MOSES LAKE - Youth Outdoors Unlimited is holding its second annual auction Saturday.
The organization is dedicated to helping physically disabled children go on a hunting or fishing trip.
The event starts at 5 p.m. at the Best Western Lake Front Inn, located at 3000 Marina Drive in Moses Lake.
Tickets are $60 for an individual and $100 for a couple.
Cindy Carpenter, the group's founder and president said about 20 tickets remain. It sold out last year.
The event includes a silent auction, an "almost live" auction and a live auction. Auction items include a turkey hunting package, a two night stay at the MarDon Resort, a guided bass and walleye fishing trip gift baskets, hunting trips, statues, a wooden youth motorcycle rocker, 50 pounds of hamburger patties and 50 pounds of hotdogs.
"We have a whole table of raffle items," Carpenter said. "We have tons of stuff."
The group is expanding the number of trips they offer, she said. Five children are expected to participate in hunting and fishing trips this year. The group is adding turkey, duck and goose hunting in 2012.
"During dinner, I'll talk a little bit about what we accomplished in 2011, and we'll talk about what our goals are and what we have planned in 2012," she said. "While people are having dinner, we're really excited about this, the three boys that got to hunt last year, now have their own little video and so we'll have those boys get up and talk about what Youth Outdoors meant to them."
The fundraiser sponsors the trips, and helps them buy equipment to help the children hunt, she said.
"Some of our equipment is really special equipment," Carpenter said. "A kid in a wheelchair, missing an arm, can't use the same equipment ... We try to get as much donated as we can ... It's kind of a cool way for everyone to come together and help the kids."
The group's goal is to make a difference in the children's lives, Carpenter said.
"We want a kid to go, 'Oh my gosh. I got to go on a three-day hunting trip and it was the trip of a lifetime," she said.
