John Patrick Goodall
John Patrick Goodall, age 93, a resident of Colville, WA passed away on February 15, 2012 in Colville. John was born on March 27, 1918 in Bakersfield, CA the son of Oswald Patrick and Harriett (Randall) Goodall.
As a young boy, John resided in Bakersfield with his parents. At the age of seven, his parents enrolled him at the St. John Military Academy in Los Angeles, CA. He attended the academy until returning home to attend Kern County Union High School. John graduated in 1936 and began working. On Oct. 21, 1939, he married Paulina Lacasella in Bakersfield where they began a family. John worked as an insurance claims adjuster after moving to Yuba City, CA in 1940. He then began to acquire a broad knowledge in engineering through extended education courses and while working for his father-in-law, making and designing concrete irrigation pipe systems for flood irrigation of orchards. In 1971, John was offered an engineering position with Brinkerhoff Geothermal, a company specializing in deep well structures. He resided for a short time in Arizona where he fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a private pilot. In 1975, John and Paulina moved to Moses Lake, WA. John retired at the age of 75. In October of 2010 they relocated to Colville, WA where they could be closer to family.
John's life was one of great dedication to his work and genuine devotion to his faith. He was actively involved with the protection of the human life as the Washington State Knights of Columbus Rite to Life committee chairman. He shared many memorable family vacations at their Lake Tahoe Cabin and was an avid golfer, always walking the course and receiving two holes in ones. John was always present to the needs of his family for which he provided very well. In reflection of his wife he said, he always felt blessed to have married the love of his life. He was well cared for by his wife, Paulina, and embraced a similar level of care at Buena Vista Nursing Home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Paulina; daughter, Leigh Goodall, two brothers, Jerome and Joseph Goodall and grandson, Timothy Goodall.
John is survived by his children, Ursula Andrews and her husband, Don, Colville, WA, Blake Goodall and his wife, Chrisy, Boone, NC, Jonathon Goodall, Pam Hermann and her husband, Glenn, Seward, AK, Greg Goodall and his wife, Martha, Pacifica, CA; grandchildren, Christine, Jonathan, Elizabeth, Heather, Sarah, Zach, Sean, Cristin and Mary-Ursula; twelve great-grandchildren.
The vigil service and rosary for John P. Goodall will begin at 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 27, 2012 followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Father Steve Werner as celebrant.
