| June 15, 2012 5:22 AM

Update 9:27 a.m.: The Washington State Patrol is reporting that I-90 has reopened as of about 20 minutes ago. A release from the Grant County Sheriff's Office is expected shortly.

A large chemical spill involving gas has been reported at REC Silicon outside Moses Lake. Residents are asked to close windows and ventilation and remain indoors. As of 8:25 a.m., the air around REC and Wheeler Road has been tested and found to be safe, but other areas remain to be tested. I-90 is closed to traffic. The nature of the gas is not known, and the Grant County Sheriff's Office is preparing for the worst-case scenario. Watch columbiabasinherald.com or the CBH Facebook page for further developments.
