J.P. Thomas

| June 13, 2012 6:00 AM

Pete was born in New Albany Mississippi in 1926, to Webster and Gertrude Thomas, the 4th of 6 children. He worked on his fathers farm until he joined the army at age 18. He served in Europe with the Fighting 69th Division until the war was over. He then moved to Spokane, where he worked for Kaiser Aluminum for 25 years, while raising 3 children with his wife Beverlee. After retirement he bought Warden Golf Course with his brother Dan and he made his home in Warden for the next 34 years. He met Claudine Freeman and they shared their lives together until she passed away. He was a quiet man, but he loved people. He liked to fish and hunt in his younger years, and took up golfing later in life. He was known by his golfing buddies as the" biggest sandbagger in history". He was an avid sports and Mariners fan, and was ruthless at pinochle. He also liked to grow tomatoes, and can them, so he could give them to family and friends. He also was an excellent cook.

Pete is survived by his brother R.K. Thomas from Spokane, 3 children, Valerie Jorden, Steven Thomas, and Kathy Thomas, all from the Spokane area, 5 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his faithful little dog "Frisky" who kept him company and entertained him.

He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten by all who knew him. Pete passed away May 31, 2012 at his home. There will be a memorial at his home, 16802 Out Of Bounds Lane on June 30th at 1:00.
