Enriqueta "Katie" Reyes

Enriqueta "Katie" Reyes, 46, longtime Moses Lake and Warden resident died Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in Kadlec Medical Center in Richland. Katie was born May 8, 1966 in Moses Lake, WA to Juan J. and Alica (Gomez) Reyes.

Katie grew up and attended school in Warden, graduating from Warden High School in 1986. In 1985 she was elected as Warden Junior Miss. She was very active in 4-H, and served as judge for many 4_h activities. She loved and excelled in many sports. After high school, she attended Spokane Community College for 2 years and graduated with an Associate's Degree. She worked for a travel agency, then worked at McCain Foods in Public Relations; she excelled in this position and was offered a position within the company that would require her to relocate to Chicago, Illinois, but desiring to stay near to family, she declined the promotion. She last worked for the Washington State Dept. of Social and Health Services and Worksource, until illness forced her to relinquish her work. Her life was such a great example of great health and vitality until she was diagnosed with Crohn disease. Katie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She is survived by her children Alexandra Montes and A.J. Montes, granddaughter Serenity, all of Moses Lake; mother Alicia Reyes, brothers Henry (Lula) Estrada, all of Warden, Xavier (Matluba) Estrada of Seattle, sisters Consuelo (Sergio) Cervantes of Moses Lake, and Diana Estrada (Hector Guerra) of Warden, uncle Pablo (Romelia) Aguillon of Crystal City, Texas and aunt Lupe (Leo) IbaƱez of Alice, Texas, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Juan J. Reyes, and her grandparents.

Viewing will be held from 5 - 8 p.m., Friday June 8 in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints 1515 S. Division St, Moses Lake, and Saturday, June 9 from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m. with funeral services to begin at 11:00 a.m., in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1017 S. County Rd., Warden, WA, with President Blaine Cole officiating.
