Virginia Alice Smith Cox

She was born on March 18, 1932 to Ernest C. Smith and Nellie B. Smith at their home in Kent, Oregon. She has an older sister, Joyce Short and husband Wallace Short, and a younger brother, William C. Smith and wife Elaine Smith. Mother went to see her Savior May 16, 2012 surrounded by most of her family. She had suffered a long illness of chronic leukemia until she succumbed to the illness. Jack and Virginia were wed on May 1, 1948 in Goldendale, Washington. After dad's passing, they had been married 58 years. Mom was a farmer and realtor for over 40 years. She was a wonderful wife and mother.

Virginia is survived by 3 children, Penelope (Rick) Johns, Pamela (Wiley) Hurt, and Duaine; 2 step sons, Jackie and Verne; 6 grandchildren, Shannon (Doug) de Grasse, Brent (Sandra) Myrick, Benjamin (Rachel) Myrick, Christopher (Sarah) Sasser, Emma Sasser-Hurt (Wiley & Pamela), Callie Cox (Duaine Cox, Sandy Jones and Kurt Jones); 10 great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Quinton, and Jake (parents, Shannon and Doug Batey), Ryan and Joshua (parents, Brent and Sandra Myrick), Madison and Lydia (parents, Benjamin and Rachel Myrick), Aden R., Kalob, and Aydan, one on the way, (parent, Christopher and Sarah Sasser).

She was preceded in death by a daughter born premature, Deborah Kay. Also a premature boy that was still born.
