Royal's SummerFest set for July 13-15

| June 7, 2012 6:00 AM

ROYAL CITY – Royal's annual SummerFest has been scheduled for July 13-15, and it should be a special one.

The theme this year is "Royal City's 50th Birthday Bash".

Anyone with ideas that fit the theme and the gumption to see them through is invited to help. The festival's chair is Cara Hoyt. You may reach here at [email protected]  or 253-315-0027.

The parade chair is Julirae Castleton, 346-2287. This is her third year of organizing the parade.

Castleton is encouraging decade floats with the pioneers who came in those years and families to enter with their year of Royal Slope entry.

The grand marshals for this year are Frank and Chris Mianecki. Frank is a Royal Port Commissioner and farmer in the area. Chris was recently named interim president of Royal Festivals, the group that sponsored Distinguished Young Woman and the Royal City float.
