MOSES LAKE - A 21-year-old Quincy man is dead after being hit by a motorhome while trying to cross state Route 17 on foot.

Benjamin Horning, 21, was walking northbound on SR 17 Wednesday about noon when he tried to cross the highway just north of Randolph Road, according to Washington State Patrol Lt. Scott Martin.

He was reportedly hit and killed in the northbound lane by a motorhome driven by Steven Stetner, 54, of Ephrata. Horning's next of kin have been notified, Martin added.

Few other details about the crash were known as of press time Wednesday evening.

Traffic was rerouted on SR 17 between Randolph Road and Road 10 from shortly after noon until about 3:30 p.m., Martin said.
