Phelps's 28 takes top spot in men's golf

CRESCENT BAR - George Phelps shot a net 28 on one nine to win first place in the first division of men's day play at the Crescent Bar Golf Course on July 18.

The day's competition was the better net nine holes by division, plus KPs on either hole No. 3/12 by division, and hole 5/14, also by division.

Better Nine:

Division I: First place winner with a net 28 was George Phelps. Second place was a tie with net 31s between Don DeMuth and Earl Wolf.

Division II: First place winner was Joe Quintanilla with a net 32. Second place winner was Dave Hayes with a net 32.5. Third place winner was Jack Quealey with a net 35.5.

KPs

Division I: Hole 3/12 was Gordon Lennon at a distance of 23-1. Hole 5/14 was Bill Sprague at a distance of 13-2.

Division II: Hole 5/14 was Bob Wells at a distance of 26-8.

Birdies: Joe Quintanilla hole 7; Bill Sprague hole 14; Don DeMuth hole 9; Tom Harris holes 6 and 10; George Phelps hole 1.
