Man accused of shooting at his ex-girlfriend

EPHRATA - A Moses Lake man is accused of shooting at his ex-girlfriend and her friend following an argument about the woman's pregnancy.

Prosecutors charged David N. Crowell, 19, with first-degree assault in Grant County Superior Court, according to court records.

Grant County Superior Court Judge John Antosz set bail at $25,000, according to court records.

Crowell and the woman were in their Basin Street home when they began arguing about her pregnancy, according to a Moses Lake police report. The woman called a friend to pick her up. After getting into her friend's truck, they began to back out of the street. Crowell reportedly approached with a handgun, raised it and fired once at the truck.

The victims reported hearing the bullet hit the truck, according to the police report. They drove away.

Crowell's ex-girlfriend allegedly saw him with the gun in a travel trailer parked on their lawn, according to the police report. Police reportedly discovered a 9 mm pistol inside a bedroom heater vent in the home, and a 9 mm casing on the street. The weapon was allegedly stolen in a vehicle prowl.

Crowell reportedly told police he heard the gunshot, but didn't know what happened. He admitted to getting into an argument with his ex-girlfriend and a truck came and picked her up because she was leaving.
