Moses Lake Numerica branch to close

| July 29, 2012 6:00 AM

MOSES LAKE - Numerica Credit Union is closing its Moses Lake branch Sept. 28 due to members moving toward online banking and ATM transactions.

"We recognize our members like the convenience of online and mobile banking," Numerica president and CEO Carla Altepeter said. "Having access to services online 24 hours a day, seven days a week has become an easy, safe and secure option."

But that convenience translates to fewer branch transactions, creating less and less need to keep its doors open.

Altepeter said she knew it was risky moving into the already heavily banked community, and said that over half of the Moses Lake branch members use the union's online options.

"It's no longer necessary for members to visit a branch location when we are always available online," she said. "By closing this branch, however, Numerica will be able to make further investments in online services and technology."

Both employees and members of the Moses Lake branch have already been notified of the closure.
