EPHRATA - Fans were set for an evening of exciting racing action at the Ephrata Raceway Park Saturday. But Mother Nature had something else in mind as rain squalls and lightning moving through the area forced people to run for cover, and heats to be rescheduled.

Only Ephrata Pioneer Muffler II Pure Stocks and the Pepsi Street Stocks were able to complete their main events. Jerry's Auto Supply 360 Sprints gave it a solid effort, but the was track too slick. Kim Janke State Farm Youth Hornets and Jerry's Auto Supply will be rescheduled to complete their main event at a later date.

The Evening wasn't a total loss as those in attendance were treated to some destructive action between Mr. Dizzy and the Crusher, and an early Fourth of July celebration that drew ooh's and awes and even stopped traffic along Highway 17 for the duration.

Motocross under the lights gets underway Thursday evening at 5 p.m. The gates open at noon.
