EPHRATA - One of the two men accused of robbing a Moses Lake man for his marijuana is serving a year in prison.

Mario A. Martinez Angeles, 19, of Quincy, pleaded guilty to second degree robbery in Grant County Superior Court, according to court records.

He was charged with first degree robbery. The charge was lessened as part of the plea agreement, according to court records.

Martinez Angeles has no previous felony convictions, and faced a sentencing range of three to nine months in jail, according to court records. The prosecutor and defense attorney agreed justice would be better served by imposing a sentence above the sentencing range.

Grant County Superior Court Judge John Antosz agreed, sentencing Martinez Angeles to a year in prison, according to court records.

Martinez Angeles, Edgar I. Aguirre-Hernandez, 22, Selah, and an unidentified third man knocked on Gordon Beeman's door. When Beeman, 54, Moses Lake, opened it, the men allegedly forced their way in, according to a Moses Lake police report. One of the men reportedly whipped Beeman in the face with a handgun, knocking him down. After he fell, the men allegedly kicked Beeman several times, telling him they were from the "Quincy DEA" and were looking for "his stuff."

One of the men allegedly held Beeman down, while the other two attempted to break into the locked rooms in the residence, according to the police report. When the person with the gun bent down and grabbed Beeman's shoulder, Beeman told the police he allegedly grabbed the gun. The gun allegedly went off during the struggle.

Beeman reportedly told police he didn't fire the gun, he just pressed on the intruder's finger, and it continued to fire until it was empty, according to the police report. The officer reported it was unlikely the gun would continue to fire with how Beeman described the incident.

Police found Aguirre-Hernandez lying in the road with a gunshot wound in his shoulder, and Martinez Angeles was found at Samaritan Hospital with a gunshot wound in his hand, according to the police report.

Police allegedly found two rooms in the residence were converted to grow marijuana, according to the police report. They reportedly found about 400 plants in the residence.

Officers found a Glock 22 pistol near the residence, according to the police report.

Aguirre-Hernandez remains charged with first degree robbery in Grant County Superior Court. Beeman is charged with manufacturing marijuana, according to court records.
