Locals finish Ironman challenge

COEUR D' ALENE - Men, women and teens from around the world came together to try and make a name for themselves as they took part in the Ironman competition in Coeur d'Alene June 24.

Three local area participants entered and finished the event. Joel Garza (26) from Othello placed 36th out of 172 in the Men's 25-29 Division finishing with an overall of 11:05:53. Sam Barnes (45) and Kelly Moore (48) from Ephrata placed 60th and 142nd out of 317 participants in the Men's 45-49 Division, finishing with times of 11:39:59 and 12:52:04, respectively.
