MOSES LAKE - A non-denominational demonstration against abortion is scheduled for Sunday in Moses Lake.

The march begins at 1:30 p.m. in the old Kmart parking lot off North Stratford Road near state Route 17.

The group will walk along Stratford to Valley Road and back, taking about an hour to complete the march, according to Mark Krcma, who is the pro-life chair with the event's sponsor, the Knights of Columbus.

While the group has been holding the walk intermittently for about 39 years, Krcma said it has become an annual event over the past decade.

Around 200 people usually attend, he said, some bringing their own signs and others using signs provided by march organizers.

The march is scheduled each year around the Jan. 22 anniversary of Roe V. Wade, the landmark 1973 Supreme Court decision concerning abortion.

"We try to hold this around that date in objection," Krcma said. "We'll continue to hold it as long as this law is still in place. A large percentage of the population doesn't agree with these laws and we feel that it's legalized murder."
