PLASTIC BAGS

Reader disagrees with possible ban

Environmentalists are now trying to have our lawmakers ban plastic grocery bags state-wide. These bags are recyclable and can be reused for other uses at home.

Retail stores have checkout counters made for the plastic bags. If you were to ban plastic grocery bags, it would cost a lot of money to replace checkout counters to handle other types of bags. It would also slow down the checkout time, thus creating longer lines at the checkout.

If the public wanted to ban plastic grocery bags, then we should vote on it.

Don't pull an Obama on us and force it on us with no input from the public.

Our lawmakers need to spend more time on our state budget.
