ROYAL CITY - The Distinguished Young Woman Program in Royal City will start late or not start at all. There is no one to lead.

Courtney Anderson, who was in charge last year, has given up the chairmanship, according to program committee member Kyla Christensen. A replacement has not been found.

"We have someone who's thinking about, but she hasn't called back," Christensen said Saturday.

According to Christensen, the DYW normally competition starts rolling in early January. The selection is usually made in March, and the show the contestants put on requires a lot of organization and practice.

"We can't do it until we get a chairman," Christensen said. "We have a lot of people who want to help but no one who wants to be in charge."

Persons who have the interest and the time to lead the DYW program are asked to call Christensen at 346-2025.
