MOSES LAKE - Two longtime Moses Lake businesses are merging with the sale of M & M Heating & Air Conditioning.

Hochstatter Electric will soon be the owner of M & M Heating & Air Conditioning, according to Pat Hochstatter, the third-generation owner of Hochstatter Electric.

M & M's employees and inventory will transfer to Hochstatter on Interlake Road.

The deal is expected to close Jan. 27.

He explained that M & M's owner Ed McDonald, approached him about buying the business.

"We both run our businesses fairly similar," Hochstatter said. "He is retiring and needed somewhere for his customers to go. We both treat our customers the same way."

The refrigeration portion of McDonald's business is new to Hochstatter.

"Before this, I didn't do a lot of refrigeration work," he explained. "But overall, the two businesses just fit together really well."

Hochstatter's employees work on all electrical equipment. Their jobs are as large as wiring an industrial building to as small as fixing a table lamp.

McDonald, of M & M, said he employs about eight employees.

He and wife Jill started the business in 1969.

He will work with Hoch?statter to help take care of his customers and during the transition.

"I've got lots of customers I still want to take care of and help," McDonald said. "My fingers will still be in it, I just won't be responsible for it. Our business philosophy has always been to take care of the customer. Pat's going to do that and we're going to help him with it."

McDonald called the joining of businesses a good fit for himself, Hochstatter and all of their customers.

McDonald is now telling his customers about the sale and plans to find a tenant to rent his building.

He anticipates their customers will be taken care of in a honest and reliable way.

"It should be a seamless transition for all of our customers," he commented.
