MOSES LAKE - Law enforcement officials responded to several reports of shots fired during the weekend in Moses Lake and throughout Grant County.

At 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning Moses Lake police responded to a call of shots fired near South Canterbury Lane and South Hawthorne Drive. The reporting party said they heard three gunshots before seeing three vehicles leave the scene at a high rate of speed, according to a report.

Police were reportedly unable to locate any vehicles leaving the area.

At 3 p.m. Saturday a man called 9-1-1 to report a bullet hit his home on Road 3 Southeast, about four miles southeast of Moses Lake.

The resident told Grant County sheriff's deputies he was in the kitchen when he heard a loud bang and noticed a break in the glass of a north facing window, according to Grant County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Ken Jones.

Responding deputies found a medium size rifle round between the window's first and second panes, determining the bullet penetrated the first pane at an angle and travelled about 18 inches before coming to rest between the panes, Jones said.

Investigators found no other evidence in the area and Jones said no neighbors reported hearing or seeing anything suspicious.

At 7 p.m. Saturday, police and deputies responded to two separate reports of shots fired on Broad Street in Moses Lake. The reporting party reportedly flagged down deputies to say the gunshots came from an area near Market Street and they saw a four-wheel drive vehicle, possibly a Ford Bronco, drive away west on Broad.

Nothing was found in the vicinity, Jones said.

At 10 p.m. Saturday dispatchers received a report of shots fired near the intersection of Road P and Road 6 Northeast, followed by the sound of "engines revving."

Responding deputies reportedly found nothing in the vicinity.

Finally, at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, dispatchers received a report from a Beverly resident who stated they heard approximately nine shots fired from what "sounded like a big gun."

Jones said responding deputies heard about six more shots fired from what sounded like a small caliber gun, possibly a .22, but they had no success in finding evidence and no further reports came in.
