MATTAWA - Last week was a tough one in boys basketball for the Wahluke Warriors as they dropped three contests.

In their "worst game of the season," according to coach Cody Marlow, the Warriors fell, 66-38, to LaSalle in a non-league contest.

"This was a surprise especially after playing so well at the Moses Lake Christian Christmas Tournament," Marlow said.

Wahluke was led by the 14 points of Jared Sabin, eight by Rafael Mendoza and seven by Saul Juarez.

Returning to South Central A Conference East action on the weekend, Wahluke played better but lost to Riverview, 47-36, and Burbank, 65-53.

Both teams struggled offensively in the Riverview contest. Wahluke had an opportunity to come back when the Panthers missed free throws, but the Warriors did not convert possessions to points.

The scoring leaders were Juarez with 12 points and Sabin with 10.

Wahluke's offense perked up for Burbank, but the Coyotes were ready too. They rode 53 percent shooting to the win.

Sabin had a double-double night with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Oscar Onofre led scoring with 16 points, and Juarez had 10.

This week's action starts tonight with a contest at Royal. The rivals will be seeking their second SCAC East win.

Kiona-Benton visits Wahluke on Friday. The Warriors will travel to Mabton on Saturday.
