Runnin' Vikes roll over Spokane

MOSES LAKE -The Big Bend Community College mens basketball team opened league play with a 101-84 win over Spokane Friday.

Both teams came into the game tied for 4th in the NWAACC Coaches Poll.

BBCC got huge efforts out of Antonio Snow who pumped in 30 points, and Blake Skidmore who finished with 26 to lead the way for the home team.

The win moves the Runnin' Vikes record 1-0 in league play and 11-1 overall.

"The game started with Spokane jumping out to a quick 18-12 lead, only to see us fight back fight back and take a 50-38 lead at half time," coach Mark Poth said. "The second half saw Spokane close the lead to six points before we broke the game open and take a commanding 93-70 lead mid-way through the fourth quarter." 

BBCC shot 58.7 percent from the floor and 86 percent from the charity stripe.

"I was very pleased with the overall performance of our team on both ends of the court," Poth said. "We feel we are headed in a positive direction and I think we will continue to improve as we progress through a tough league schedule."

The Runnin' Vikes return to action tomorrow night when they travel to Yakima to take on the Yaks. The team returns home Saturday to host Wenatchee at 4 p.m.
