MOSES LAKE - The Moses Lake High School wrestling team had a disappointing outing when the Chiefs hosted the Hall of Fame tournament Saturday, dropping two out of three matches.

Moses Lake drew No. 1 ranked Tahoma in the first round and was beaten handedly 50-15.

The Chiefs got off on the wrong foot as Try Long lost the initial match 4-0 and Chase Clasen, the second, 9-1.

But Hayden Wise (126) pinned his opponent to give Moses Lake one of three wins against the Bears.

The other two wins came from Nico Moreno (152) who won by pin and Johanathan Perales (182) who won by decision.

"Tahoma is a very tough team. They didn't even play their best lineup against us," coach Jamie Wise said. "They are a deep team and obviously have some very good backups."

The Chiefs lost their second round match to Lake Stevens 42-23, but came back to get a win over Graham-Kapowsin, 38-20.

"Nico had another good outing against some very tough wrestlers," Wise said. "And Johnathan didn't lose a match all day."

The Chiefs are back in action this week with a full slate of meets.

"This is going to be a busy week for us," Wise said. "We wrestle at Walla Walla Thursday and then we are at Snohomish High School Friday and Saturday for a dual meet."
