Morgan Insurance adds third generation
Bud, Steve and Gary Morgan make up three generations of the family owned Morgan Insurance in Moses Lake. Steve is Gary's son and the newest addition to the business.
MOSES LAKE - Morgan Insurance has a third generation working in the family business, at 419 S Division St., in Moses Lake.
The newest addition, Steve Morgan, returned to Moses Lake from Afghanistan after serving in the Marines.
He is now licensed as an insurance agent at the business started by his grandfather, Bud Morgan, in 1955. Bud Morgan is currently a senior partner in the business.
The business's partner and manager, Gary Morgan, is Steve Morgan's father.
Steve Morgan was born and raised in Moses Lake.
He returned home because of the opportunity to move in, be a business owner and carry on a family legacy, he said Thursday.
He said he enjoys the business, but it has been a steep learning curve.
"I missed that part of my life (in the Marines), enjoyed it, but it's time for a new chapter and to move on to a new part of my life here," Steve Morgan commented.
Gary Morgan said his father and grandfather are excited to have him work in the family business.
Steve Morgan completed the 40 hours of classroom time and passed a state exam to become an agent.
"That's just the beginning of the learning curve," Gary Morgan said. "He gets to come to the office and learn about the companies we represent. As an independent agent, we represent a number of different insurance companies."
The independent agency provides insurance for autos, homes, farm coverage and life insurance coverage.
