George Jams to resume, special appearance set

GEORGE - Highly-regarded American West folk singer Hank Cramer will give a concert at the George Community Hall on Saturday, Jan. 14.

Cramer's performance will be part of the George Washington CoffeeHouse Presents series. The Winthrop resident is known for a booming bass voice and smooth guitar picking.

Also on tap at the George Community Hall is the return of First Friday (Blue Grass) Jams on Friday, Jan. 6. Anyone who plays or sings is welcome.

"We lean pretty hard to the bluegrass-country-folksy side of things," said organizer Debby Kooy.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. Jamming will get under way at 7 p.m. and go to about 9 p.m. Admission is free.

There is an admission charge of $3 for the CoffeeHouse concert. A hat is passed to collect tips for the performer. The show will begin at 7 p.m.

According to Kooy, Cramer's repertoire is a mix of original, traditional and contemporary folk songs that tell stories about cowboys, sailors, soldiers, miners, adventurers and drifters. Cramer has lived some of those experiences.
