ACH girls lose at buzzer

DEER PARK - Kristia Colvin drained a shot from behind the arc with one second on the clock to give Columbia Hunters a 51-48 win over Almira/Coulee-Hartline (ACH) Saturday.

The victory in the District 7 1B title game gives the Lions (24-1) the No. 1 seed heading into the regional tournament at Shadle Park in Spokane Saturday.

The Warriors (19-4) are the No. 2 seed and will face Moses Lake Christian Academy.

"I thought the girls played a good ball game," coach Mike Correla said. " We led the majority of the way and were ahead with a minute or so to go, the got beat on a 3-pointer at the buzzer."

The game got off to a good stat for the Warriors as ACH took a 16-10 lead at the end of the first quarter of action and was up 29-25 at the break.

The Lions made a run at the Warriors in the third quarter and made up ground, trailing 39-38 going into the last eight minutes of the contest.

Columbia tied the score 48-48 as time wound down, then hit a last second shot at the buzzer to pull out the come from behind win.

"Columbia is a quality team with a lot of height," Corrella said. "We lost to them by 17 earlier this year, so it was nice to see our girls play well against them Saturday."

Madeline Isaak led the way for the Warriors with 15 points. Miranda Porterfield added 13, Karlee Martin chipped in 12, Bryanna Stevens contributed four points, and Allison Fox and Kelsey Streeter finished with tow points each.

The Warriors are back in action Saturday as they face the Lions from Moses Lake Christian Academy in a loser our game at Shadle Park in Spokane at 6 p.m.

"Moses Lake Christian is a young team with a lot of drive and energy," Corella said. "We beat them earlier this year, but I expect them to make the needed adjustments and show us a few new wrinkles."
