Warnick bill that favors fairs passes

OLYMPIA - The Washington State House of Representatives Thursday unanimously approved legislation to expand health and safety grants to include community fairs.

The bill sponsored by Rep. Judy Warnick of Moses Lake would allow small agriculture fairs to compete for capital funding of infrastructure projects.

"Extending the opportunity for smaller, local fairs to apply for this funding will allow them to make important health and safety upgrades on fairgrounds and facilities," Warnick said.

The bill moves to the Senate, where it will undergo a hearing process. That process must be completed by March 8, when the legislative session ends, or it will die.
