Arrest made for drug sale near school
QUINCY – A Quincy man was arrested on Feb. 3 for dealing drugs near a school as part of an undercover operation.
Grant County Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team detectives went under cover after learning drug transactions were allegedly taking place in or near local businesses.
That led to detectives buying 2.7 grams of cocaine from Marcus Alexander Garcia, 21, in the parking lot of a McDonald's restaurant. That lot is located within 1,000 feet of Hi Tech High, Quincy's alternative high school.
Garcia was charged with suspicions of delivery of cocaine in a school zone, driving under the influence and driving with a suspended license.
The charge of delivery of drugs in a school zone can add extra penalties to the drug crime.
