Man found hanged, suicide suspected

COULEE CITY – According to the Grant County Sheriff's Office, a man found hanged here apparently committed suicide after allegedly assaulting his wife.

The woman claimed she was assaulted by her husband at their home just outside the city limits. She was able to escape and seek help. 

The woman was transported to a hospital for treatment of her injuries. Her name will not be released while the investigation continues, chief deputy Ken Jones said.

Jones said deputies who went to the home found a dead man, who apparently hanged himself. The man, in his 50s, is believed to be the husband of the assault victim. His name also had not been released as of Friday.
