MarDon group urges yes vote
We had the pleasure of attending the Town Hall Meeting at the O'Sullivan Sportsmans' Resort at MarDon.
Since we are never to old to learn....we learned that the Royal School levy rate is the lowest in the Basin at $2.30 per thousand of assessed value.
We learned the difference between a bond and a levy. This is a M & O levy, which replaces the current M & O levy, not a bond, which is for building improvements.
This is not a new tax. It is a replacement of the existing levy.
If you pull out your old tax statements, you will see that the old levy rate for 2008-10 was $2.55 per thousand.
This levy, if passed, will benefit the school with $1,102,000 for 2012 and $1,135,000 for 2013. These funds support teachers, extracurricular activities, technology, and transportation programs.
Our school, if the levy passes, will also receive matching funds from the state to the tune of $1,313,212. A no vote takes all of these funds away from our already strapped Royal School District.
Please join us with a yes vote on this necessary levy and postmark your vote by Feb.14.
