ROYAL CITY - Royal School District students who enjoyed having Jan. 19-20 off because of inclement weather now must make those days up.

The first make-up day will be Feb. 16, according to Superintendent Rose Search. It was built into the schedule as a snow day before classes started last fall.

The good news for students is that there will a two-hour late start. That's because Jan. 20 was to have been a late start day.

The second make-up day will be May 25. It, too, was programmed as a snow day into the original schedule.

In another major schedule change, parent conferences have been moved from April 25-26 to Feb. 28-29. Both days will have two-hour late starts to allow for teacher preparation.

"Having conferences in April did not give students enough time to improve, if needed, before the end of the semester," Search said.

Search announced that the next meeting of the Royal School Board is set for Monday, Feb. 27, at 7 p.m. in the high school library. One topic will be the potential purchase of portable classrooms to help ease over-crowding in the district.
