SCHOOL BONDS
Reader supports Moses Lake bond, levy
Join me in voting yes on Feb. 14 for both the replacement levy and school bond! Together they are equally important for the future of Moses Lake School District along with the continuation of quality academics and programs that our district currently offers.
By supporting the bond, it will allow for future building space of two new elementaries and a new high school to help alleviate the overcrowding at the secondary levels. This would allow for grade reconfiguration to happen, which is key to ward off future overcrowding that the district could face should growth remain steady. With current enrollment numbers at Chief Moses Middle School over 1,100 and MLHS next year at 2,400, the social climate is at high risk for safety issues. As a parent of a secondary student and another one joining in the trenches next year, it is frightening to think about a natural disaster striking and the catastrophic losses associated with it given the current over-crowded conditions of our schools.
Pay it forward - support the future generations of Moses Lake. We owe it to our children to give them high-quality experiences as students so they can thrive in the real world. Schools are the pillar of our community and when professionals or families are considering relocation, they often seek out opportunities for their children to excel as well.
Your yes vote will ensure a safe, healthy and enriching environment for the future of all MLSD students.
