MOSES LAKE - Police are investigating the death of a Moses Lake man who was apparently shot while driving.

Saturday at about 1:30 a.m. Moses Lake police responded to a report of gunshots being fired on Highland Drive, according to Moses Lake Police Chief Dean Mitchell.

A Moses Lake officer and Grant County deputy in the vicinity at the time of the shooting arrived to find Guadalupe R. Sanchez, 26, in a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds, Mitchell said.

Sanchez was transported to Samaritan Hospital before being transferred to Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane for treatment.

He reportedly succumbed to his wounds early Sunday morning.

Investigators believe Sanchez was driving his vehicle when he was shot, Mitchell stated. Police reportedly located spent firearm cartridges in the immediate area of the shooting and investigators interviewed more than 40 people about the incident.

Mitchell said Sunday the investigation is ongoing and more details will be known in the coming days.

Anyone with information concerning the shooting is asked to contact Moses Lake Police Sgt. Mike Williams at 764-3887.
