MATTAWA - The Wahluke Warriors rallied late in the third period and surged in the fourth Saturday night to top Royal, 45-35, in a South Central A Conference East girls basketball game.

The Warriors broke on top, 10-4, after one period and maintained that margin into the third period. Royal threw up a press, caused some turnovers and tied the score at 22-all, but it couldn't hold the momentum.

Wahluke sprinted ahead and led 30-24 at the end of three periods. Royal kept it close until the last two minutes, when Wahluke rallied again.

Wahluke took advantage of balanced scoring. Liliana Ramirez led with 10 points. Marleny Garcia had nine and Karen Salazar, Cynthia Hernandez and Patty Hernandez had eight each.

Royal was led by the 11 points of Lindsey Christensen and eight of Stefhany Guadarrama.
