SCHOOL LEVY AND BOND

Reader supports bond, levy measures

On Feb. 14 there will be an educational bond up for vote. Please vote 'yes' for this bond. This bond will give our community another high school and two new grade schools. It will allow for technology upgrades in all Moses Lake schools and it will allow for updates in the athletic departments. The school district plan with the two additional grade schools is to bring sixth grade by down to the elementary level and have the middle schools seventh and eighth grades only. This will give those grades more room, help with overcrowded classes, and give teachers more opportunity to help students that may need extra help. Our athletics department will have some of the following updates: repair or replace the tennis/basketball courts and track and it will also allow for an updated, nicer looking cover over the high school pool.

Without a vote 'yes' on the levy, our community will be in danger of no longer having these advantages:

  • elementary music and physical education staff
  • elementary counselors
  • special education
  • co-curricular and extra-curricular student activities
  • technology
  • gifted education
  • building maintenance
  • security officers
  • transportation
  • nurses and health services
  • all-day kindergarten
  • drop-out prevention programs
  • new curriculum and materials for schools
  • over 150 jobs for secretaries, custodians, teachers and paraprofessionals

Vote 'yes' for this bond. Our community needs this.
