MATTAWA - The good news for Wahluke in last week's 44-22 girls basketball loss to unbeaten Kiona-Benton was that the Warriors held the Bears 11 points below their scoring average.

"Being outsized and out-talented, we still play harder than any team we meet on the floor," coach Jeff Ahmann said.

"KiBe is a very talented and well-coached basketball team," he added. "They are one of the best teams in our league every year. We just could never get going from the offensive end."

Ki-Be has one of the league's leading scorers in Bailey Schroeder, who is averaging 22 points per game. She's leading a team that is 7-0 so far this season.

Schroeder was held to 11 points. That can be credited to Dalia Martinez's and Maripaz Olivares's defense. Olivares also led all rebounders with 11.

Marleny Garcia started showing post moves she is capable of and led the Warriors with seven points. Lily Ramirez had six.
