Wahluke boys fall

| December 28, 2012 5:00 AM

MATTAWA - Kiona-Benton stopped Wahluke, 63-54, last week in the final prep boys basketball game before Christmas break, but coach Cody Marlow was pleased with his team's effort.

"We played really well in the first half, shooting 10-13 from the foul line," he said. "A huge improvement for us."

Ki-Be broke the Warrior press a few too many times in the second half, and the Warriors weren't able to answer on the other end of the floor. The teams exchanged baskets in the fourth frame.

"This was a good game for us other than the score," Marlow said. We rebounded well and defended their posts, which has been a weak point this season, really well."

The Warriors' biggest improvement came from the foul line. They shot 74 percent.

"If we continue to improve from the line, hopefully those down to the wire games will start going our way."

Oscar Onofre led the Warriors with 16 points.
