DESERT AIRE – The annual Cozy Comforts of South Grant County Christmas Bazaar on Dec. 1 was the biggest ever, or big enough to fund 400 of the comfort blankets the organization makes for children in crisis.

Cozy Comforts is a volunteer organization of women who make an average of 1,200 comfort blankets per month for children in crisis. They are distributed to agencies that deal with these children, from Othello to Yakima.

“We would like to thank the community for making our annual Bake Sale-Bazaar the most successful ever,” Hanson said.

The Sagebrush Senior Center was a busy place for the bazaar. The turnout included many people who had shopped the bazaar before and many new people.

They purchased home made baked cookies, candy, fudge, breads and many more items. There was also a wide variety of handmade gift items, from knitted and crocheted afghans, blankets, placemats, napkins, dish cloths, pot scrubbers, jar openers to baby toys.

“We sold out of our lunch of a bowl of chicken noodle soup with a brownie and crackers,” Hanson reported.

“We would like to Thank our local businesses Marty’s Hardware, Tiddley Diddley, Milbrandt Vineyards, Lep-re-Kon Harvest Foods, and Desert Aire Golf Course for donating items to either the Silent Auction or the raffle,” she added.

The basket of 20 gift cards was won by Carol Fuller. The Christmas Quilt was won by Jodine Sewell.

The winners of the raffle items (bottles of wine) were Dave Gerdes, Kathy Meredith, Sharron Schroeder, Elvia Fisher, Cheryl Wolff, Jeannie Buchanan, Sandy Culverwell, Karalee Behling, Martin Long and Lucy Peterson
