Quincy wrestlers beat Cascade

QUINCY - The Jacks have jumped out to a fast start this season as the team has put together three wins.

On Nov. 30 Quincy turned back long time rival Ephrata 40-34. The Jacks beat Warden 52-29 in a home meet Dec. 7, then opened Caribou Trail League action with a 69-6 beat-down at home against the Cascade Kodiaks.

Quincy reeled off 13-straight wins, losing only the last match of the meet.

Victor Salgado (106) and Christian Alejandrez (113) won by forfeit to get things going for the Jacks. Gabe Martinez (120) won by fall over Chris Winters, John Lindquist (132) won by forfeit, Luis Camacho (138) defeated DJ Ferry (fall), Isias Jimenez (145) won by fall over Garret Burris, and Andy Vargas (152) defeated James Sandellin, 16-1.

Carter Bushman (160) kept the streak going for the Jacks as he defeated Cody Fritz-O'brien by fall, Antionio Melendez (170) beat Fernando Gonzalez 15-4, Steven Gomez recorded a major decision (11-3) over Nikita Stata, Austin Morris (195) won by fall over Nathaniel Merry, and Roberto Avila turned back Bernardo Maravilla 13-11. Michael Sorensen (285) lost to Ian Allen by fall.

The Jacks are back in action Saturday when Quincy travels to Cashmere for the Cashmere Invitational.
