Unchained Brotherhood gives back to Moses Lake kids

MOSES LAKE - Members of the Moses Lake Unchained Brotherhood spent their weekend making sure that kids in Moses Lake will have gifts to open this Christmas.

The substance abuse recovery group held their annual toy drive along Stratford Road on Saturday. Group members could also be seen standing along Stratford Road collecting donations from passing motorists.

Brian Francis, the group's vice president, said members will buy as many toys as they can with the funds they raise during the event. The toys will then be sent over to the Moses Lake Food Bank, to be handed out during their toy distribution event later this month.

"It's just something we like to do every year, to give back to the community and help out in any way we can," he said.

Francis said the amount the group raises varies each year, and members are just happy to be able to give families in need a better Christmas.

"It's not about the dollar amount," said Francis. "For us it's really about spreading the Christmas spirit and paying it forward."

Francis said the group's members work hard to find different ways to help their community throughout the year.

"Our sole purpose is to provide an atmosphere of recovery and recreation for bikers who don't want to fight addiction alone," said Francis. "We all just want to give back to the community we took from for so long."

The Unchained Brotherhood will be on Stratford Road again from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturday to collect funds and toys for their toy drive. Santa and Mrs. Claus will also be present for Christmas photos.
